Growing concern about the adverse effects of application of chemicals in the agriculture practices has compelled us to restore the environment for sustainable production that encourages the introduction of organic inputs in a comprehensive form of Biotech kit The process offers immense scope to small and marginal farmers and SHG groups in creating their own organic environment and project their farming land as a “hub of safe food production” It is considered necessary to promote and take this technologies to the door step of the farmers in every corner of the state for improvement of soil heath and to create a hazard free sustainable environment. The “Biotech Kit” consist of different bio-inputs including Micorhizal preparation N,P,K,S fixing biofertilizer, entomopathogenic biopesticides, neem & garlic based biopestisides, beneficial fungas to restrain plant diseases, lure to trap the pest and a sprayer.
The Directorate of Biotechnology distribute 100 to 140 numbers of "Biotech Kit" among the small and Marginal farmers of the sate every financial year.
2. College Biotech Club: OF INDIA
The “College Biotech Club” is a new initiative of Directorate of Biotechnology, Govt. of Tripura started from 2018-19 Financial Year. The applications are invited once in a financial year from the Government recognized colleges of the State offering undergraduate education in Life Sciences/ Agricultural Science, a highly competitive scheme instituted by the Directorate of Biotechnology, Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Govt. of Tripura.
Objectives:
(i) To strengthen the scientific mindset among the students.
(ii) To create opportunity among the students to implement their innovation ideas in Lab to field and field to Lab.
(iii) To encourage more students to take up higher education in science.
Guidelines:
(i) (i) The Principal Investigator & Co- Principal Investigator of Biotech Club must be a permanent Faculty Member of the College.
(ii) (ii) The College Biotech Club will remain with host institute if PI & Co-PI get transferred by giving a communication to the funding organization.
(iii) (iii) NOC from head of Institution.
